J. O. McNair conducting the final rites. Interment was in the Harrisonburg Cemetery. Atkins was the owner of Central Building Company and Atkins Novelty Company, both of Jonesville, and also held a large amount of real estate. He participated actively in all activities of Block High School of Jonesville, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Three Rivers Masonic Lodge, a chapter member of the Jonesville Lions Club and was a member of the Jonesville Town Council at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, his mother, one brother and one sister.
