Headline:  Barney Atkins, 45, of Jonesville, Dies

Funeral services for Barney Atkins, 45, a prominent resident of Jonesville, 
who died in a Natchez hospital Dec. 10, were held at 3 p.m., Dec. 11, at the 
First Baptist Church of Jonesville with the Rev. J. O. McNair conducting the 
final rites.

Interment was in the Harrisonburg Cemetery.

Atkins was the owner of Central Building Company and Atkins Novelty Company, 
both of Jonesville, and also held a large amount of real estate.  He 
participated actively in all activities of Block High School of Jonesville, 
was a member of the First Baptist Church, Three Rivers Masonic Lodge, a 
chapter member of the Jonesville Lions Club and was a member of the 
Jonesville Town Council at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, his mother, one brother and 
one sister.
