Barr Dies Suddenly; Buried Here Wednesday Sub-Headline: Former Resident of Jena Passes Suddenly at Pleasant Hill Samuel Morgan Barr, aged 82, former resident of Jena, died suddenly at his home in Pleasant Hill, La, Tuesday, February 9, death being attributed to heart failure. The body was brought to Jena for funeral services and interment. Mr and Mrs Barr made Jena their home for many years, where they enjoyed an unusually large circle of friends. About five years ago, they moved to Pleasant Hill, and the news of Mr Barr's sudden death came as a shock to his many friends and relatives in Jena. Mr Barr was born on March 9, 1848, in Alabama. In 1884 he was married to Miss Frances Abrigail Aber. When a young man he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church South, and remained a devout member throughout his life. He was a member of the Michael Dempsey Lodge of Jena, that lodge presiding at his funeral. Funeral services were held at the Jena Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon with interment in Nolley Memorial Cemetery with the Rev L. R. Nense, pastor of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, where Mr Barr was a member, officiating. He was assisted by Rev A. S. Lutz, of Minden; Rev J. F. King, of Haughton, and Rev A. S. J. Neill, of Jena. Other ministers present were Rev D. C. Barr, brother of the deceased, of Oak Ridge; Rev E. C. Dufresne, of Springhill, and Rev. J. J. Rasmussen, of Trout. Mr Barr is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs Mattie Hunt, and one brother, Rev. D. C. Barr.
