All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: Apirl 28, 1932 Headline: Dr. Blume Killed in Accident; Was Buried Tuesday/Victim Was Well Known in Jena Where He Formerly Lived Dr John Neal Blume, of Arcadia, formerly of Jena, died at the Tri-State Sanitarium in Shreveport at 2pm Monday, April 25, following an automobile accident in which the car he was riding in was struck by a train at Gibsland, La. Dr Blue was 58 year old, a member of the Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. About ten years ago, he moved away from Jena, where he had lived for a number of years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Arcadia Methodist Church, with Revs Lee and Carraway, both of Arcadia, presiding. The Masonic Lodge of Arcadia had charge of ceremonies at the grave. Interment was made at Arcadia cemetery. Deceased is surved by his widow, Mrs Rosalee Dayton Chapman Blume, one daughter, Mrs Gene Washburn, of Santa Rosa, Texas; one stepdaughter, Mrs J. W. Baker, of Shreveport; one stepson, Claude Chapman, of Arcadia, and his mother, who resides in minden. Those from Jena attending the funeral were Mr and Mrs J. U. Greer, Miss Thelma Greer, Aubrey and Aaron Greer and Walter Dayton.
