Baker Dies at Shreveport on April 9, Buried at Jena J. A. Baker, aged 71 years, died Saturday morning in a Shreveport hospital after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:45 at the Methodist Episcopal Church here and interment was in Nolley Memorial Cemetery. Rev Phin Sensintaffor, of Shreveport, conducted the services and was assisted by Rev A. S. J. Neill, Pastor of the local Methodist Church, and Rev L. D. Posey, Pastor of the First Baptist Church. Mr Baker formerly lived in Jena, moving from here to Natchez, Miss., and from there to Shreveport, where he has remained during his illness. He has many friends in this section who regret his passing. His wife survives him. Funeral arrangements were in charge of Kinner & Stevens, local undertakers. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr and Mrs S. D. Baker, Mrs Barnes, Mr and Mrs T. C. Mitchell, Mrs J. H. Mitchell, Miss Mildred Mitchell, Mr Ralph Mitchell, Miss Verlin Burke, C. L. Havgood, G. L. Morrison, Mrs J. A. Baker, Miss Marguerite Baker, and Mrs Leona Valentine, of Shreveport; E. C. Millett and J. R. Baker, of Baskin; Mr and Mrs R. W. Little and children, of Melville.
