Officials identified the man as Esaw brown. He was pronounced dead at the scene by LaSalle Parish Coroner I. C. Turnley. Deputy Butch Ganey, who investigated the incident, said Brown was fishing off the banks of Sandy Bayou located two miles east of the Diversion Canal near La. Hwy. 28 when death occurred. Brown was fishing with two of his brothers who told police that Brown was in the process of removing a fish from his line when he fell forward onto his face. Ganey said it was reported that Brown had suffered a similar attack some seven years ago.
