L. Barrett, Dies at Residence Mr. William Luther Barrett, Sr., 82, Jena, died at his residence at 11:55 pm Saturday, March 25, 1967. Mr. Barrett was a retired worker for the LaSalle Parish Sheriff's Department. He worked for the Sheriff's office until eight or ten years ago, when he retired. He had worked as the jailer for the department. Mr. Barrett was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jena. He was buried in Hair Cemetery near Jena Monday, March 27, 1967, services conducted by the Rev. Dan Blake at Jena First Baptist Church. Graveside services were also conducted by Rev. Blake. Arrangements were by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lydia Jane Barrett of Jena; four daughters, Mrs. Dorcus B. Causey of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Pearl B. Sapp of Savannah, Ga., and Miss Nadie Elaine Barrett and Mrs. Enid B. Powell, both of Jena; three sons, John Andrew Barrett of Jena, William Luther Barrett Jr., of El Dorado, Ark., and David George Barrett of Lafayette; 16 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hershel Floyd, Joe Paul Stevens, E. W. Plummer, A. C. Creed, Malcolm Aldridge, George Hutson. Honorary pallbearers were H. W. Cannon, Jimmy Wallace, R. L. Buckelew, Bill Dickerson, Jimmy Coleman, Luther Batson, Don Steen, and Alonzo Taylor.
