Brewton Dies on Friday at Ferriday, La. Sub-Headline: Brother of Local Assessor dies of Paralytic Stroke John T. Brewton, brother of Walter Brewton, LaSalle Parish Assessor, died from a stroke of paralysis at his home in Ferriday on Friday, February 4th; at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Brewton, who was a former resident of Jena, was engaged in business as a merchant at the time of his death. He had made many friends here, and his death came as a distinct shock to this entire community. Coming here several years ago from Goldonna, he made Jena his home for quite some time, after which he moved to Jonesville and then to Ferriday. His wife is the former Miss Lizzie Reid, of Castor, and his parents were: Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Brewton, who are no longer living. Mr. Brewton was of Baptist faith, a Mason, and fifty-seven years and seven months of age at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at his home in Ferriday, with Rev. Hamilton conducting, after which the body was conveyed to Goldonna for interment. He is survived by the following: his wife, Jimmy a son, Elizabeth, daughter of Ferriday; J. G. Brewton, son of Baton Rouge; Mrs. J. O. Hess, daughter of Ringgold; J. H. and E. L. Brewton of Ringgold, brothers; Mrs. S. S. Whitener of Goldonna, sister; Mrs. R. M. Terral, sister, of Mansfield, and W. W. Brewton, brother of this city.
