All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: April 3, 1975 Headline: Georgetown Youth Dies in Accident A one-car accident claimed the life of a Georgetown youth and resulted in the injuries of two other youths, also of Georgetown in a wreck early last Thursday morning on U.S. 165 near Grayson. According to the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Department, Robert Danny Bartley, 17, the driver of the auto, apparently fell asleep at the wheel and the auto left the highway and struck a bridge column, killing him instantly. Two passengers in the car, Danny King, 17, and Lynn Teedle, 17, were taken to the Caldwell Parish hospital and treated. King received minor injuries and Teedle's injuries were report as "major", but not critical by hospital officials. According to the sheriff's spokesman, this is the third fatality that occurred at this location in as many years. Funeral services for the youth were Friday at 2 p.m. in the Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial was in Jordan Hill Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Bartley was a student at Georgetown High School. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Bartley of Georgetown; one brother, William Bartley of Georgetown, and one sister Miss Theresa Bartley of Georgetown.
