All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: December 5, 1957, Thursday Headline: Tullos Man Loses Sister and Brother Within Two Weeks Two deaths in the family within two weeks have left only Jeff Black of Tullos as the lone surviving child of the late James and Elizabeth (Ellis) Black of Brewton, Ala., and Saucier, Miss., according to information received this week by this newspaper. Mr. Black, of Tullos, who has resided there for several years, attended the funeral on Nov. 1 of his only surviving sister, Mrs. Annie Lay of Leesville, wife of the late Rev. John Lay, retired Methodist minister. Then, on Nov. 12, Mr. Black's only surviving brother, Sid Black of Gulfport, Miss., passed away. Mr.s Lay is survived by an adopted daughter, Mrs. C. W. Self of Leesville, and her brother, Jeff Black of Tullos. At the time of her death, Mr. Sid Black also survived his sister. Survivors of Mr. Sid Black are his wife, Mrs. Sara Black of Gulfport; 12 children, a host of grandchildren, and his brother, Jeff Black of Tullos.
