Bishop Dies of Injuries May 18 Word has been received here that Lt. Henry M. Bishop, son of Mrs. W. H. Bishop and the late W. H. Bishop, of Oakdale, La., died on May 18, 1944. A previous message on May 19 stated that Lt. Bishop had been injured in action over Germany on May 14. This was followed by the death message on May 29. Lt. Bishop was a graduate of Jena High School. He enlisted in the regular army in September 1938. After Pearl Harbor, he transferred to the Air Corps. He received his wings at Brooks Field, Texas, in the spring of 1943. Lt. Bishop ..........(can't read next two words, paper folded) in January 1944 and was stationed somewhere in England. At the time of his death, he was with the Ferry Command. Lt. Bishop's father was the town Marshall of Jena for about 17 years. Survivors are: his wife, Mrs. H. M. Bishop, New Orleans, La., mother, Mrs. W. H. Bishop, Oakdale, La.; one brother Pvt. Hardy E. Bishop, Camp Mackall, N. C., and three sisters, Gertrude Bishop, Oakdale, La., Mrs. Frank J. Taylor, New Orleans, and Mrs. William Widmer, Boston, Mass. Lt. Bishop's grandmother and two aunts, Mrs. D. H. Sheppard, Miss Bennie Sheppard, and Mrs. T. A. Bradford reside in Jena.
