Brooks was 42 years of age, while Kinney was 29. The men were fishing on Horseshoe Lake, occupying the same boat, when struck by a bolt of lightning. Just how long before the accident was discovered is questionable, as the body of Mr. Brooks was seen in the boat with his head in the water by someone passing. The alarm was given and investigation made before it was discovered that the body of Kinney had evidently fallen into the water when struck. The body of Kinney was not recovered until about 5:30 Sunday afternoon. It was located about a mile from where Brooks' body was found. Mr. Brooks had been employed as saw filer at Urania for a number of years and was well known. He is survived by his wife and a son. Mr. Kinney was unmarried.
