Blake Called by Death Wednesday Morning at 9 a.m. (From last weeks Olla Signal) Mr. J. A. Blake passed away on Wednesday morning of this week at his home in Baton Rouge after an illness which lasted for several weeks. For the past week Mr. Blake had been failing fast and for several days before his death the end was believed to be near by loved ones and friends who watched by his bedside. The cause of Mr. Blake's death was apoplexy which became worse with the passing of each succeeding day. Mr. Blake was a resident of Olla for many years, moving here from the Davis community and entering into the mercantile business, and was the postmaster here for several years before going to Baton Rouge to make his home. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. Blake is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nannie Blake, and the children are as follows: Verda Blake, and Mrs. B. E. Perkins of Baton Rouge; Mrs. R. L. Adams and Mrs. Smith Butler of Columbia, and Mrs. W. G. Banks of Minden, also his brother, Mr. B. E. Blake, of Olla. The sympathy of all people who knew Mr. Blake and who are the friends of the near relatives is extended to them. The Signal extends sympathy to the sorrowing ones. (NOTE: Name is "A. J." in headline, but "J. A." in obituary narrative.)
