A. Breithaupt Succumbs at Hospital in Alexandria Mrs. Carolyn Breithaupt, aged 74 years, died at the Alexandria Hospital Tuesday night, August 25, following a long period of ill health which became suddenly worse a few days ago, when she was transferred to Alexandria for treatment. Mrs. Breithaupt was one of the pioneer women of this section, having moved to this part of the state from Natchez, Miss., in 1870, and during her useful life here she and her husband, T. A. Breithaupt, Sr., who survives, made a large circle of loyal friends. Ill health kept Mrs. Breithaupt from taking active part in civic affairs of recent years. She was a devout member of the Jena Baptist Church, having united with those of that faith early in life. Funeral services were held at the Jena Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon. The last rites were attended by a large crowd of friends of the deceased and her family. The services were conducted by Revs. E. C. Dufresne and L. D. Posey. Interment was in Nolly Memorial Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, T. A. Breithaupt, Sr.; one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Walker of Alexandria; four sons, Clyde Vernon Breithaupt, of Phoenix, Ariz.; T. A. Breithaupt, Jr., Jena; Walter H. Breithaupt of Alexandria, and Emile A. Breithaupt of Jonesville. Eleven grandchildren also survive.
