Joe C. Barrett

Joe C. Barrett, 80, of Jena, died at 1:45 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 1997, at
Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

He was retired as custodian at Jena Elementary School, a position he held for
33 years. He was a veteran of World War II. A native of Mississippi, he was
born Sept. 16, 1916.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the chapel of Kinner and
Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with the revs. Norris Poole and shorty Mayo
officiating.

Interment followed in the Wilbanks Cemetery near Summerville under direction
of Kinner and Stevens of Jena.

Survivors include one son, Jason C. Barrett of Aimwell and three
grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rodney Westbrooks, Leroy Westbrooks, J. F. Westbrooks, Eddie
Westbrooks, Raymond Westbrooks and Donnis Westbrooks.

Honorary pallbearers were Deian Young, Rick Ashworth, Jay Bradford, Jackie
Poole and Kenneth Young.
