Man killed in wreck Thursday A 26-year-old Trout man was killed instantly last Thursday afternoon in a two- vehicle accident on Highway 8 in the Eden Community. Eddy Joseph Barber, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. I. C. Turnley, Jr., LaSalle Parish coroner. The accident reported occurred about 12:50 p.m. according to State Police Troop E. Barber's small flat bed truck was hit broadside when he pulled into the path of a loaded log truck driven by John kevin Williams, 22, of Atlanta. Williams was apparently not injured in the accident and no charges were filed. Athe highway was closed for more than two hours while the wreckage and load of logs were removed. SERVICES Funeral for Eddy Joseph Barber were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Mike HeDrick, officiating. Burial followed at Georgetown Cemetery with arrangements by Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. He was a construction worker employed on the LaSalle telephone project and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Barber of Trout; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Barber of Many and Mrs. Ruth Sanders of Winnfield; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Ponds of Winnfield and Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Breland of San Antonio, Texas; and two brothers, Michael Barber of Trout and Curtis Barber of Dry Prong. Eddy Joseph Barber, 26, of Trout, was killed in the accident which wsa reported about 12:50 p.m. Barber's small flatbed truck was hit broadside by a loaded log truck driven by Joh Kevin Williams, 22, of Atlanta. The crash flipped the log truck over, spilling logs all over the highway. The highway was closed for more than two hours while workmen cleared logs and the wreckage. No charges were filed in the accident.
