Blake, 67, of West Monroe, died at 12:15 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Shreveport after a courageous bout with leukemia. Mr. Blake was born in Urania on Feb. 16, 1933, to the union of Raleigh Dale and Aro Holmes Blake. He spent many years in the oil field business and recently retired with 11 years of service at E. A. Conway Hospital in Monroe as an electrician. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 5, at the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe with Father Mark Norris and Rev. Mary Anderson officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Cemetery at Calhoun under direction of Kilpatrick. Survivors include his wife, Gwen Blake of West Monroe; his mother, Aro Holmes Blake of Olla; two daughters, Karen White of Winnfield and Paula Allen of Shreveport; two stepdaughters, Robby Webster and Jeanny Gross, both of West Monroe; two sisters, Frances Spence of Riverside, Ca., and Sallie Lowery of Olla; one brother, Donnie Blake of Canton, Ga.; six grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers were Edwin Webster, Leonard Pruitt, Dickie Butler, Glen Henderson, Alvin Spence, and Donnie Lowery.
