All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: February 20, 1969 Headline: Funeral Services Held Monday for Tullos Resident Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Tullos for Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Bearden, 88, of Tullos, who died early Sunday morning in the Columbia Heights Hospital in Columbia after a short illness. Rev. Coda Salter, pastor of the church, officiated at the services. Burial followed in the Pine Hill Cemetery near Olla under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include five sons, Henry Ates and Wesley Ates, both of Urania, Arthur Ates of Georgetown, Ray Bearden of California and R. W. Bearden of Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Lessie Goodwin of Urania and Mrs. Dottie Williams of Tullos; three brothers, Luther Brimer of Brenton, Ira Brimer of Tioga and Homer Brimer of Trout, one sister, Mrs. Ava Dear of Kirbyville, Texas; 22 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Frank Emmons, Oscar Ates, Quentin Ates, A. W. Ates, Jr., Curtis Goodwin, and Bud Ates.
