Carter, 73, On Tuesday Morning Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the First Baptist church of Jena for Mrs. Leslie O'Bannon carter, wife of MR. J. Wolfe Carter of Jena and aunt of Mr. Malcolm Lafargue, candidate for the U.S. Senate. The Rev. J.P. Owens, pastor of church, assisted by Dr. J.L. Stone, former pastor and now head of social science department at Arkansas A&M college, Monticello, Ark. Was in charge of services, with interment in the Nolley Memorial cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers. Mrs. Carter died Sunday night at 11:30 o'clock at the age of 73, following a long and lingering illness. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and a talented painter and needlecraft worker. She was a native of Summerfield in Claiborne parish and a graduate of the old Mt. Lebonon college which later was moved to Pineville and established at Louisiana college. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Charles of Reeves, La., Alton, postmaster at Jonesville and Turner of Jena; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Lafargue of Marksville and Mrs. A. Eolian Baker Hardy of Mt. Lebanon, one brother, T.W. O'Bannon of Pollock, two grand-daughters and numerous nieces and nephews. Those attending the funeral services for Mrs. Carter from out of town were R.W. Cotton, Ernest J. White, Thomas H. McClure, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Beard, Mrs. Rita Farley, Velma Jones, Mrs. Fred V. Fairbanks and Mrs. D.E. Brown, all of Jonesville; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wright, JR. And Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Barr, all of Ruston; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wright, Sr., Randall Wright and Narcissa Walters, all of Baton Rouge; Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Human of Sulphur, Mr. Don R. Baker and Don O. Baker of Leland, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Baker, Mr. Carl Lafargue, Mrs. Edith Armitage and Thelma Gardner, all of Shreveport. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Baker and Mrs. Frank D. Niles of Alexandria; Mrs. Edwin L. Lafargue, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. E.L.
