Headline:  Mother of Jena Woman Is Called by Death

Mr and Mrs L. B. Portier returned Sunday night from New Orleans, where they 
were called by the death of Mrs Portier's mother, Mrs. J. A. Cropper, which 
occurred Friday night at 10:30 o'clock.  Mr and Mrs Portier left Friday when 
they received a message that Mrs Cropper was dangerously ill, but death 
occurred before they reached the city.  Mr. Portier is manager of the LaSalle 
Hardware and Furniture company here.
