M. Sub-headline: W. M. Coleman, 77, Called by Death, Buried on Wednesday The news of the untimely death of W. M. Coleman, aged 77 years, 1 month, and 12 days, which occurred on Tuesday morning at 3:14 o'clock at his home in Jena was received by the people of this section with heartfelt sorrow. Mr. Coleman had been a resident of Jena since his birth on January 1, 1858, and a member of one of the pioneer families of this section, religious and social welfare of this section he did much to promote the civic, religious, and social welfare of this entire community. The deceased was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and was actively identified with the growth of this denomination throughout this section. On January 28, 1886, he was married to Miss Ella Myers, who preceded him to the grave on July 10, 1905. Six children survive this union as follows: B. L. Coleman, Monroe, and R. G. Coleman, Minden, sons; Mrs. Jim Russell, Utility, Mrs. George Bennett, Archie, Mrs. B. J. Basham, Jena, and Mrs. Emmanuel Broussit, Monroe, daughters. He is also survived by his second wife who was Miss Hattie Lang, whom he married on July 28, 1915, one brother, J. N. Coleman of Jena, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth King of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Beckie Davis of Olla. Funeral services were held at the Nolley Memorial Methodist Church in Jena at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning with interment following in the Forsythe Cemetery. Rev. D. F. Anders, his pastor, and Rev. L. D. Posey, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiated while the funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kinner & Stevens, undertakers of Jena.
