He was a retired pharmacist and owned and operated LaSalle Pharmacy in Jena for many years. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Jena. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was born April 10, 1928, at Little Creek to the union of Daniel and Nellie Peyton Chapman. Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena with Rev. Dominick DiCarlo officiating. Interment followed in the Jena Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Norma Prudhomme Chapman of Jena; two sons, Jeff Chapman of Conway, Ark., and John Chapman of Alexandria; two sisters, Ethlyn Strange of Pineville and Norma Culkin of Franklinton; three brothers, Vance Chapman of Baton Rouge, Wallace Chapman of Larto, and Cedric Chapman of Pineville, and one grandchild.
