Cornwell, Sr., 73, of Summit, Miss., died Saturday, January 8, 2000, in Amite County of a heart attack. He was born November 17, 1926, at Olla, the son of Millard Cornwell and Effie Snow Cornwell. He was owner and founder of Cornwell Well Service and attended First Baptist Church in Summit. He was a U. S. Army veteran and served during World War II where he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and W.W.II Victory medal. Services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 11, at First Baptist Church in Summit with Dr. Jerry Smith and Dr. David Millican officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery under direction of Catchings Funeral Home of McComb. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Arma Sue Rundell Cornwell of Summit; one son, Marty Cornwell of Summit; one daughter, Kathy Davis of Summit; one sister, Effie Mae Harrist of Queen City, Texas; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Fred Hughes, Jody Connelly, Eddie Flory, Jack Hodges, Jeff Hickman and David Travis. Memorials may be made to the building fund of First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 100, Summit, Ms., 39666.
