Condit Ralph I. Condit, 80, of Jena, died at 6:59 a.m., Thursday, December 2, 1999, at the LaSalle General Hospital of Jena. He was a retired operating engineer and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Nolley Memorial United Methodist Church of Jena. He entered the U.S. Air Force in late 1942 in hopes of going to Aircraft Engine Mechanics School, but ended up at Chanute Field Air Force School to become a Link Trainer Operator and Instructor. Later, Condit was sent Barksdale Field at Bossier City and was assigned to training crews for the B26. He was born April 11, 1919, in Souris, N. D., to the union of Ernest Dayton and Agnes Watt Condit. Services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5, at Nolley United Methodist Church with Rev. John Johns officiating. Interment followed in Nolley Cemetery of Jena under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Electa Condit of Jena; one daughter, Jeanette Elaine White of Grand Cayman, B. W. I.; one son, Larry Ray Condit of Jena; two brothers, Leonard Condit of Grand Island, Nebr. and Orrin Condit of Abilene, Kansas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Kenneth McCartney, Jim Cox, Harland Morgan, Gary, Compton, Jerry Cruse, and Rusty Finley. Honorary pallbearers were Morgan Baker, Tom Barker, Dan Cornett, Bill Davis, Fleet Jones, Jay May, Joe Nugent, Don Steen, Dr. I. C. Turnley, Jr., Duane Voltmer, Keith Tarver, and Larry Irwin.
