Troy Cockerham, 71, of Olla, died early last Friday, August 6, 1999, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria following an extended illness. Troy Hill Cockerham was born June 16, 1928, at Little Creek to the union of Roanza and Lydia Ganey Cockerham. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and had pastored churches all over the state of Louisiana for the past 50 years. He was serving as pastor of Standard Baptist Church near Olla at the time of his death. Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 8, at Standard Baptist Church with the Revs. James Simons, E. R. Johnson and Randy Ray officiating. Interment followed in the Roberts Cemetery at Kelly under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Survivors include his wife, Tommie S. Cockerham of Olla; one son, Mark Cockerham of Olla; one daughter, Kristi Cockerham of Jena; four brothers, Ray Cockerham, Marvin Cockerham and C. G. "Teet" Cockerham, all of Jena and Elton Cockerham of Ruston; three sisters, Gussie Cassell of Ball, Bessie Jones of Trout and Virginia Cassell of Kingsville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Vince Stapleton, Josh Cockerham, Tim Cripps, Ricky Cockerham, Jackie Cockerham, and Chester Cassell.
