Cowan Held in Shreveport Funeral services were held Friday, July 27, 1951, at the Central Christian Church in Shreveport for Mrs. Anna Hudspeth Cowan, mother of Mrs. R. W. Wagner of Jena. The officiating minister was the Rev. Harry Cunningham, pastor of the Central Christian Church. Interment was in the Forest Park Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Cowan passed away early Wednesday, July 25, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Her death was attributed to a poor heart condition that she had suffered for several years. She was visiting in Baton Rouge with her daughter, Mrs. Maybelle Jelissaint, when a fatal heart attack developed. Off and on for about 20 years, she had resided in Shreveport. She most recently resided with Mr. and Mrs. Wagner in Jena. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Shreveport. For three years, 1947-1950, she was housemother at the Shreveport YWCA. Ill health finally compelled her to resign that position in June 1950. She is survived by one son, R. Elmo Cowan, of Houston, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Wagner, Mrs. Jelissaint of Baton Rouge, and Mrs. Frances Pecora of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Rader and Mrs. Cora Rader; six grandsons and two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers at the funeral were Ed Winters, Armon Wagner, W. M. Wagner, jimmy Gallien, Joe Houston, and Keevil Jones, all of Shreveport.
