All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: December 15, 1955 Headline: Laverne Corley, 18, is Buried Wednesday Miss Laverne Corley, 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Corley of Route 1, Trout, who died Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Gaharan's Clinic in Jena, was buried Wednesday morning at Belah Cemetery. Final rites for Miss Corley were held at the Belah Methodist Church, with the Rev. G. A. Pritchard conducting the services assisted by the Revs. Bernace Thaxton, S. B. Spinks, and Jesse Norris. Interment in Belah Cemetery was under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Miss Corley, a former student of Jena High School, had been in ill health for some time. She was forced to drop out of school about a year ago. In addition to her parents, the young woman is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Sue and Ida Clydell Corley, both of Route 1, Trout, and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Beavers of Route 1, Trout. Pallbearers were Wilbur Ray Poole, Rinard Poole, Lewis Corley, Floyd Humphries, Jesse Caldwell, and Reginald Foley.
