Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 10 am from the Temple Baptist Church, with the Rev. K. G. Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Hair Cemetery near Jena under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn DeSoto; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Jones of Houston, Texas; three sons, Charles Joseph of Lynn, Mass.; George of New Orleans and Randall of Jena; two brothers, Henry DeSoto of Alexandria and Joseph DeSoto of the U. S. Navy; two sisters, Mrs. H. A. Berry of Tyler, Texas, and Mrs. Orville Boothe of Gretna; and three grandchildren. Pallbearers were Barney Henderson, J. C. Henderson, Marvin Tarver, Billy DeSoto, James Hardy, and J. R. Roy.
