Duke, Sr. Passes Away at His Home on Saturday R. N. Duke, Sr., aged 84 years, 10 months, and 4 days, died at his home in Jena Saturday afternoon at 1:15 after a very short illness. Deceased was stricken with pneumonia Tuesday and grew steadily worse until the end came Saturday afternoon. Mr. Duke, who was born in Alabama, had been a resident of this territory for almost 83 years. He was married to Miss Cora Martin in 1865. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. R. N. Duke, E. N. Duke, Jr., M. H. Duke, and Allie Duke, all of Jena, and J. P. Duke of Little Rock, Ark., R. R. Duke, of Pineville, and Mrs. N. R. Roberts, of Alexandria. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Pine Grove Church with Rev. J. H. Smith, pastor of the Baptist Church of Jena, officiating, assisted by Rev. Garrett, of Manifest. We join their many friends in expressing sympathy in their bereavement.
