Duke Died at Mother's Home in Old Jena Thursday Robert R. Duke, aged 53 years, passed away last Thursday afternoon at the home of his mother, Mrs. R. N. Duke, in Old Jena. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Death occurred at 3:55 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Mr. Duke was born in Robeline, La., March 20, 1878. He formerly lived at Pineville before moving to Jena about three years ago. He was a member of the Jena Baptist Church, having united with the Baptist denomination early in life. In October 1899, he was married to Miss Stella Josephine Robertson. Funeral services were held Friday at the home of his mother, Rev. E. J. Phares, pastor of the Good Pine Baptist Church, conducting the services. Surviving, besides his widow and mother, are the following: Newt and Marshall Duke of Jena; O. P. Duke, Little Rock, Ark., brothers; Miss Allie Duke, Jena; Mrs. W. P. Roberts, Alexandria, sisters; and the following children, Mrs. O. A. Whitten, Frank, W. C., Claudia, and Ruth Duke of Pineville, and Herbert A. Duke and Mrs. A. B. Corley of Alexandria. Two grandchildren survive; they are Leah Ruth Whitten of Pineville and Horace Aubrey Corley of Alexandria.
