Mrs. Duke had been in ill health for sometime and her passing while not unexpected, came as a distinct shock to the people of this community. She was born in Georgia on February 21, 1849, and had been a resident of Jena since 1916. She was a devout member of the Baptist Church, holding her membership in Jena. Funeral services were held at Pine Grove with interment in the cemetery at that place on Sunday; Rev. L. D. Posey, her pastor at Jena, officiating. The funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kinner & Stevens, local undertakers. Surviving the deceased are three sons, I. P. Duke of San Angelo, Tex.; E. N. and M. H. Duke of Jena, and two daughters, Miss Allie Duke of Jena and Mrs. W. R. Roberts, of Alexandria, as well as a score of other relatives.
