All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Date: December 15, 1955 Headline: 'Buie' Doughty, 47, Killed in Accident; Rites Are Saturday Beauregard (Buie) Doughty, 47, formerly of LaSalle Parish but late of New Orleans where he was engaged in business, was killed instantly last Thursday afternoon about 4:30 or 5 o'clock when a tire blew out on the station wagon he was driving. The accident happened near LeCompte while Mr. Doughty was enroute from New Orleans to Jena for a visit. The car reportedly went out of control, hit the end of a culvert and smashed into a telephone pole. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Jena Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. J. P. Owens, pastor, conducting the final rites. Interment followed in Nolley Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals, Jena. Mr. Doughty is survived by his father, Sam A. Doughty of Trout; two brothers, W. C. Doughty of Trout, and R. E. Doughty of Sulphur; and two sisters, Mrs. Essie Mobley of Trout and Miss Vera Doughty of Dallas, Texas. A former teacher for a number of years at the Jena Elementary School, Mr. Doughty also was a Navy veteran of World War 2.
