From The Jena Times - Olla Tullos Signal Date: Wednesday, June 4, 1997 Page: 9A Headline: Area Deaths Huey Vance Elliott Huey Vance Elliott, 75, of Jena, died at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at his residence near Jena. He was a retired LaSalle Parish Deputy Sheriff and for many years operated a saw shop at his home on the Aimwell highway. He was a member of the First united Pentecostal Church of Jena. He was born August 16, 1921, in Epps to the union of Charles and Oza Chestnut Elliott. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at the First United Pentecostal Church in Jena with the revs. Crawford Coon, Alan Wilson, and Gary Davidson officiating. Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery under direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of jena. Survivors include his wife, Ester Elliott of Jena; three daughters, Addie Fern Scarber of Trout, Doris Gayle Price of Belah and Othelia Kaye Elliott of Nebo; one son, Nolan V. Elliott of Nebo; five brothers, Grover Elliott of Jonesville, Vaude Elliott of Jena, Hairom Elliott of El Dorado, Ark., Charles Haywood Elliott of Plain dealing and Bobby Elliott of Aimwell; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Carey Kleinpeter, Dennis Elliott, Nathan Hudson, Don Valentine, James Elliott and Larry Elliott. Honorary pallbearers were Norris Elliott, Doc Eubanks, Verden Brewer, LaVelle Doughty, David Wilson and Ray Gough.
