Ellis Held Thurs. at Hurd Cemetery at Manifest Funeral services for Lloyd C. Ellis, Manifest, were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 12, at Hurd Cemetery at Manifest. The Rev. Cripps of the Enterprise Baptist Church officiated. Lloyd Ellis was killed April 21, 1945, on Luzon Island in the Philippines. He was in the 37th Infantry Division of the Army. Ellis was born in Jonesville August 1, 1917, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ellis. He is survived by his wife, the former Irma Estis, whom he married on May 27, 1938, one daughter, Georgia Melvin; three brothers, Homer and Guy Ellis and John Cruse; and seven sisters, Mesdames Lillie Webb, Corine Reynolds, Rose Belle Phillips, Marie Nasif, Henrietta Franklin, Eva Eubanks, and Meta Tullos. Veterans from Harrisonburg served as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Home for Funerals.
