Sub-Headline:  Ben Edwards, Sr.

Ben Edwards, Sr., 91, of Jena, died Sunday, August 29, 1999, in LaSalle 
General Hospital of Jena.

He was a retired railroad worker and a Baptist.  He was a member of Masonic 
Lodge No. 161.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, in New Evergreen Baptist 
Church with Dr. Dave Mayes officiating.

Burial followed in Webster Cemetery of Good Pine under direction of Gayden 
Funeral Home of Jena.

Survivors include four daughters, Willie Mae Farris, Barbara Bell and Bertha 
McDaniel, all of Jena, and Gladys Edwards of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Van 
Edwards of Jena and Elton Edwards of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, the 
Rev. Leonard Edwards of Alexandria; one sister, Rosie Mae McDade of Beaumont, 
Texas; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
