Floyd Dies after Heart Attack Mr. Dugie Floyd, 74, of Goodpine, long-time Sheriff of LaSalle Parish died at Jena Hospital last Thursday afternoon. Floyd, Sheriff of LaSalle for 20 years (1940 - 1960), died of a heart attack after being carried to the hospital Thursday. He was a World War I veteran. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, Jena, with the Revs. G. R. Nolan, Dan Blake, K. G. Brooks, and Willard Bell officiating. Burial was in Nolley Memorial Cemetery at Jena with graveside services by the ministers. Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wingfield of Shreveport; one son, Hershel Floyd of Jena; two brothers, Mr. Alex Floyd and Mr. homer Floyd, both of Jena; two sisters, Mrs. Ellis F. Ward of Natchitoches and Mrs. Lydia F. Henderson of Jena; three grandchildren and one great-grandson. Pallbearers were Don Steen, Alonzo Taylor, Ray McCrory, Jack Reed, Cliff Barton, Larry Robertson, Thad Mayo, and James Coleman. Honorary pallbearers were M. F. Humphries, Jimmie Humphries, O. A. Hester, Lewis Humphries, Blanchard Smith, Buck Barrett, Eric Brown, Maloy Steen, James E. Coleman, Vic Lofton. Doyle Windham, Bill Brasher, Gordon Francis, Rosco Sandifer, Orland Sandifer, Coy Doughty, Robert Gray, Clyde Richardson, Ira Ganey Jr., H. D. Smith. Richard Elmer Warwick, M. L. Volentine, Jimmy Bardin, J. C. Duke, J. F. Justiss, Wayne McGuffee, Clyde Russell, J. C. Pyle, B. J. Basham, Joseph D. Nugent. Cameron C. Minard, Fred Minard, Bert Loe, Glen Loe, and Green Coleman. Also honorary pallbearers were Sheriff Sanford Jordan of Winn Parish, Sheriff J. Y. McGuffee of Catahoula Parish, Sheriff Floyd Hodges of Caldwell Parish. Representing the La. State police were Lt. Jack Carter, Lt. Tommie Hollingsworth, Tpr. C. C. Wilson, and Tpr. James Ray.
