According to witnesses the two boys had gone up the river in the boat to return a load fish. They started on the return trip with a live box filled with fish. The boat was heavily loaded and began leaking, gradually getting heavier, and just below the ferry crossing the front end dipped and the motor ran the boat under the water turning it over. The Thompson boy clutched the live box and held on until help arrived. According to witnesses the Frazier boy sank immediately and did not come to the surface of the water again. The depth of the water where the boy sank was estimated at 25 feet. Efforts of those present to dive and recover the body were unsuccessful as were efforts to use a seine for the purpose. The body was brought to the surface about 45 minutes after it went down with a drag line. Artificial respiration was tried as a means of reviving him but to no avail. The body was brought to Jena to the Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home. Allen Frazier was born and reared in this section and had many friends here who will regret to learn of his tragic and untimely death. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardie Frazier, who live near Walker's Ferry, and one brother, Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hanner are his maternal grandparents.
