Floyd, Long a Resident of Jena, Dies in Alexandria Francis Victory (Uncle Bud) Floyd, aged 78, long a resident of Jena, died at the Baptist Hospital in Alexandria at 3:33 Saturday afternoon, July 18, following an operation. Mr. Floyd was born in Amite County, Mississippi, August 22, 1858, but came to Louisiana with his parents while a child and settled first in Winn Parish. In 1908, he moved to LaSalle Parish and has been a well-known and highly respected citizen of this parish since that time. For many years prior to his death he lived on a farm near the town o Jena. Deceased was married in Sabine Parish in 1878 to Miss Jennie Olliff. Four daughters, Mrs. Walter Bass and Mrs. Flora Chevallier of Walters, Mrs. Sallie Weems of Winnsboro, and Mrs. Francis Hemphill of Winnfield, and five sons, Dr. W. H. Floyd of Jena, S. D. Floyd of Pinceville, C. L. Floyd of Walters, J. C. Floyd of Baton Rouge and Ulis Floyd of Jena, survive this union. His first wife died in 1921. In 1923, he married again to Mrs. Rindie Rodriguez, who survives him. He is also survived by one brother, William Floyd of Jena, and other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his passing. Mr. Floyd was a member of the Baptist Church at Midway. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Midway on Sunday, July 19, at 10 a.m., with interment at Belah. Services were in charge of Rev. J. J. Albritton of Jena, and Rev. R. M. Doughty of Tullos.
