Flaherty, 83, a retired farmer of Cotton Valley, died in a Shreveport Hospital last Thursday after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in the Cotton Valley First Baptist Church with the Rev. U. H. Hunter officiating. Burial followed in Cotton Valley Cemetery. Flaherty is a cousin to Mike Flaherty of Jena. Survivors include a stepson, A. M. Tyler of Shreveport; a foster daughter, Mrs. Willie Gray Swate of Cotton Valley; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Simons and Mrs. Ruth Gill of Shreveport, Mrs. Talley Gantt of Lovelady, Texas, Mrs. Ella Crow of Minden, and Mrs. Estelle Coker of Cotton Valley; two brothers, R. A. Flaherty of Cotton Valley and J. F. Flaherty of Waldo, Ark., and three grandchildren.
