She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Jena and was a former deputy Clerk of Court for LaSalle Parish. She was born July 1, 1914, at Tullos to the union of Philip Steele Gaharan, M.D., and Lilly Alexander Gaharan. Services were held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12 in the chapel of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Albert Vickers and Elton Cahoon officiating. Burial followed in the Alexander Cemetery of Rhinehart under direction of Kinner and Stevens, Inc., of Jena. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Franks of Jena; one son, William Franks of Jena; and one sister, Louise Peyton of Jonesville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bernard Waggoner, Ernie Peyton, Harry Peyton, Lester Peyton, Julian Richey, and Jim Baker. Honorary pallbearers were L. T. Moseley, Donald Gaharan, Kirby Corley, Jimmy Manning, Forest Mixon, and Jack Willis. Memorials may be made to Mission in Action, First Baptist Church, of Jena, P.O. Box 1379, Jena, La., 71342.
