Franklin Amos J. Franklin, 85, of Jonesville, and a native of Olla, died Saturday, September 18, 1999. He was a retired mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and a former softball coach. He was a member of Oak Grove Free Methodist Church. He served during World War II and earned a Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart, the Victory Ribbon and an overseas service bar. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 20, in Oak Grove Free Methodist Church of Jonesville with the Revs. R. V. Jolly, Wade Robinson, Brian Taylor, and David McGuffee officiating. Interment followed in the Heard Cemetery of Manifest under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Jonesville. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Cockerham of Jonesville; five daughters, Margie Toney of Natchez, Mildred Lippman and Carolyn Butts, both of Jonesville, Shirley Goodwin of Sicily Island, and Barbara Reynolds of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Matt Merritt, Glen Lippman, Russell Lippman, Jeff Goodwin, Todd Hartman, and Brad Butts.
