Headline:  Funeral Services held Sunday for Arthur Franklin

Funeral Services for Jacob Arthur Franklin, 82, a life long resident of 
LaSalle Parish, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Ridge 
Baptist Church.

Mr. Franklin died at the Columbia Heights Hospital early Saturday morning 
following a lengthy illness.  He had been a patient at the Golden Age Nursing 
Home prior to being transferred to Columbia Heights Hospital.

Revs. J. D. Thornhill, Tom Ratcliff, and Bill Blake, officiated at the 
services.  Burial was in the Blake Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son 
Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mr. Franklin was born and reared in the Chickasaw community east of Olla & 
lived in that community all his life except for a short time he lived on 
Beouf River in Caldwell Parish.  He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry 
Franklin of Chickasaw community.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Mills and Mrs. Della Litton, both 
of Chickasaw community; one brother, Charlie B. Franklin of Columbia; three 
sisters, Mrs. Lottie Jane Riley of Harrisonburg, Mrs. Ida Culpepper of 
Athens, Texas, and Mrs. Lillie Call of Shreveport; two sons, seven 
great-grandchildren. (NOTE: Should that be two grandsons, seven 
great-grandchildren?)

Pallbearers included four nephews, Sammy J. Franklin, George M. Franklin, 
James Riley, Charlie Riley and two great-nephews, Billy Ray Johnson & Michael 
Franklin.
