Gourley is Called by Death Saturday, Apr. 4 Sub-Headline: Had Been with Good Pine Lumber Company for Years William James Gourley, 62 years of age, died at his home in Good Pine at 11:30 Sunday night of acute indigestion. Mr. Gourley was a native of Iowa, but had resided at Good Pine ever since the Good Pine Lumber Company was erected, having gone there to help erect the mill. Mr. Gourley was yard foreman, and a highly appreciative employee of the company. His death cast a pall of sorrow over his fellow workmen and his many friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock by Rev. E. J. Phares, pastor of the Good Pine Baptist Church, with interment in the Belah Cemetery. Mr. Gourley is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jennie Vanhorn Gourley, and six children, who are William F. Gourley, of Good Pine; Mrs. Pearl O'Quinn, of Port Angeles, Wash.; Mrs. Fannie Roy, of Columbia, La.; Mrs. Lelia Buscaren, of Monroe; Robert T. Gourley, of Monroe and Miss Ada Gourley, who is in training at the Rapides Hospital in Alexandria. A classmate of Miss Gourley sang a solo, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" at the funeral services. Arrangements were in charge of the LaSalle Burial Association of Jena.
