The clothing of the child became ignited about two weeks ago, severly burning her before the fire could be extinguished by her mother, who was also severly burned. Medical attention and tender nursing failed to save the child's life and death resulted Saturday. Funeral services were held Sunday, with Rev Lee Brooks, pastor of the Harrisonburg Baptist Church, conducting the last rites over the little form. Interment was in a private cemetery at Rhinehart. Besides her mother, she is survived by three brothers, Perry, Martin, and Buddie Hawkins, her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Billie Hawkins and Mrs M. Alexander, Rhinehart. Those from Jena attending the funeral Sunday were Mrs. W. W. Adams, Mr and Mrs Q. R. Hudson, Mr and Mrs W. W. Russell, Mr and Mrs P. S. Gaharan, Jr., Lester and Warren Gaharan, and Miss Lucille Gaharan. Kinner and Stevens, undertakers, of Jena, had charge of funeral arrangements.
