Dr Hamilton, who was serving his sixth term as coroner of LaSalle Parish and who had never been defeated for the office, met his death at an early hour Saturday morning when the Edwads building, opposite the post office, in which he had a combination office and living apartment was destroyed by fire. He was completely burned to death in the building. He had been a resident of Jena for upwards of 27 years and had many friends throughout this section. He enlisted in the United States Army at the early part of the World War and served for several months. He served at one time as the commander of the local post of the American Legion and has been identified with the business, social and profesional life of Jena and surrounding communities since he became a citizen of the town. Dr Hamilton is survived by his wife, one son, Louis, who made his home in Jena and two daughters, Mrs Moore McDonough of Galveston, Texas, and Miss Marie Hamilton (Sister Carmel) of Austin, Texas. IN MEMORIAN The Death Angel came Friday night at 12;30 June 10, 1933, and took away our Beloved Friend, Dr. Fred Hamilton, aged 53 years. Our dear friend came here about 29 years ago and during this time devoted his life to the people. There was not a more charitable, a better learned, nor more talented man in this country. He was loved by every one, both white and colored, and was a lover of all little children. What a pity that he had to be taken away from us and in such a horrible way. We needed him so; but God needed him more and took him to live in a golden home where changes never come, like which he was worthy of, here on earth. Sleep on Beloved! Sleep and take thy rest; lay down thy head upon thy Saviour's breast, where there is no pain, nor sorrow, toil nor care. We loved you dear Doc and there is a place in our hearts and homes that can never be filled. How long O' Dear Doc, our faithful friend wilt thou be away? Our hearts are growing weary over thy long delay. We loved thee well, but Jesus loved thee best. Sadly missed by ones who love him. Mr and Mrs J. M.
