Mr. Horton and his wife had left their home at 1823 Warshauer Street, Alexandria, about 12:30, Saturday, to go fishing on Little River. The couple had just arrived at the bridge and had gone to the water's edge to enter a boat. As Mr. Horton stepped into the boat he fell backward and died within a few moments. A passing motorist brought the news to Sheriff Floyd's office and Deputy Herschel Floyd and Coroner Dr. Trax went to the scene of the death. The deceased was an employee of Hemingway-Johnson Furniture Co., in Alexandria. The body was carried to Alexandria by Hixson's Ambulance. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, November 4, 1946, at Hixson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros.
