Hicks, 79, Dies at Olla Home; Rites Held Last Friday J. G. Hicks, 79-year-old retired teacher who died suddenly at his home in Olla last Thursday after a long illness, was buried Friday afternoon, following services held at the First Baptist Church at 1 o'clock. The Rev. B. B. Cox, pastor, conducted the final rites, after which the body was transported overland to Ruston for interment in Cook Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Surviving Mr. Hicks are his wife, Mrs. Vivian Cook Hicks of Olla; one daughter, Mrs. Grace Mauterer of Olla; a son, J. G. Hicks, Jr., of Tampa, Fla., a brother, the Rev. S. A. Hicks of Leesville; four sisters and three grandchildren. Pallbearers named for the services were Lee Carroll, Kenneth Mauterer, H. Vinyard, J. A. Lindsey, B. M. Williams, and Marshall Elliott, Jr.
