All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** DATE: August 22, 1957 HEADLINE: Mrs. Belle Hailey Pioneer Resident is Buried Sunday Mrs. Belle Bradford Hailey, 77, a lifelong resident of Nebo route, Jena, who died at the Jena Hospital Saturday afternoon shortly before 5 o'clock following a lengthy illness, was buried Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., following services held at the Shady Grove Pentecostal Church of which she was a member. Conducting the final rites were the Revs. C. H. Weeks, M. C. Geuin, J. M. Henderson, Hardy Bingham and W. H. McLain. Interment followed in the Hailey Cemetery on Nebo route, Jena, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. The Rev. Weeks and the Rev. McLain conducted graveside rites, with Carl D. Hailey, J. C. Henderson, Richard Jones, Shelton L. Walker, J. W. Hudspeth and David Deville serving as pallbearers. Descended from a pioneer Catahoula-LaSalle Parish family, Mrs. Hailey had wide family connections in the two parishes. Immediate survivors are one son, Ike Hailey of Nebo route, Jena; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition, Mrs. Hailey is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bradford. Her mother was Mary Hudnall before her marriage to Mr. Bradford. Other brothers and sisters who preceded her in death were Mrs. Oliver Smith, Jim Bradford, Dave Bradford, Mrs. Fannie Hailey and Mattie Taylor, Mrs. Mary Jane Francis, Mrs. Callie Collins, Bob Morgan, Lee Morgan, Green Bradford and Ben Bradford.
