She was born on October 20, 1908, at Sikes to the union of Richard and Julie Brister Johnson and was a former resident of Olla. She was a homemaker. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 12, at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating. Interment followed in the Beech Creek Cemetery west of Olla under direction of Riser Funeral Home, Inc., of Columbia. Survivors include one son, James Hugh Hyatt of Stonewall; three daughters, Mildred Jean Foy and Artie Ann Busby, both of Clarks and Gladys Marie Wase of St. Louis, Mo.; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
