A farmer and state public works employee, he was a native of LaSalle Parish and a member of the Baptist Church. Final rites were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, in the Pine Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Hardy Bass and the Rev. Holland officiated and burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery near Jena. Surviving Mr. Hanes are his widow, Mrs. Ada Hanes of Jena; a son, George Allen Hanes of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four daughters, Mrs. Gove Pritchard of Jonesville, Mrs. Oscar McKnight of Pineville, Mrs. Carey Freeman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Horace Bradford of Jena; a brother, Dave Hanes of Jena; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie May of Olla, Mrs. L. Lasyone of Greenville, Texas, Mrs. Millard Young of Jena, and Mrs. Selma Thames of Olla; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
