He was a punch press operator, a U. S. Army veteran having served during World War II, a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a former resident of Good Pine. Services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, in Belah Cemetery of Trout with Rev. Kenneth Boyd officiating. Interment was under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena. Survivors include his wife, Frances Harris of Simms, Texas; five daughters, Joyce Oldham of Simms, Helen Geddings of Greenville, Tn., Mary Matter of Pinelles Park, Fla., Patricia Hale and Kelly Blaylock, both of Arlington Tx.; two sisters, Ethel Drake of Junction City, Kansas, and Mattie Lee Harris of Bossier City; one brother, Gene Harris of Pineville; 18 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bill Stevens, Randy Oldham, Daniel Oldham, Michael Ziebart, Rick Safro, Jerry Glover, Jeff Wingert, and Mickal Blaylock.
